Explore the hidden charms of Farnham
Join a local guide to discover more about the history of our
lovely ‘Georgian’ town. The walks are led by enthusiastic and experienced local guides who will
relate the history and architecture of the attractive small town ranging
from the Stone Age, through to the Anglo Saxon, Norman and Georgian
periods, via the time when Farnham was the centre of hop production and
brewing, returning to the present day!
The guided walk is the perfect opportunity
to experience Farnham’s past and present.
The guides will point out many of the interesting historical and
architectural gems of the town that can be easily missed.
Walks include St. Andrew’s churchyard, The Borough, imposing Castle Street with superb
views of the Castle (home to the Bishops of Winchester for over 800
years) and Georgian West Street, including the Museum of Farnham.
The walk covers
1 to 1.5 miles and lasts approximately 1.5
hours.
Regrettably shortage of time prohibits inclusion of interiors as part of
the walk.
Come along to join us on any first Sunday of each month during
2022 and meet one of the team of Farnham Town Guides who will lead you on a walk
(one of a variety which intentionally varies in detail) around the
centre of Farnham engaging in its history, architecture and points of
interest.
The cost is £5 per head - proceeds are donated to local charities.
